Real Research Korea is an application that allows Korean citizens to vote on various topics with the aim of collecting data for research. Recently, the app conducted a survey of people to choose which Korean celebrities who have been involved in various scandals should not be allowed to return to the entertainment industry. After 3,507 votes between May 9 and May 16, the results were shared with the public.

The two celebrities who took first place were former Big Bang members Seungri and soloist Go Young Wook who both achieved 66.4% voting. This means people never want them back in the industry.

Seungri is famous for taking part in the “Burning Sun” scandal, also known as “Burning Sun Gate”. This is the biggest scandal in South Korean entertainment and the former idol is a club director at the Burning Sun club where many sex crimes took place in 2019.

Go Young Wook may not be as famous as Seungri, but he participated in an equally horrific crime. He was convicted of assaulting three minors between 2010 and 2012 and sentenced to two and a half years in prison in 2013.

Go Young Wook also had to wear ankle monitoring for three years afterward and maintain his profile as a public sex offender for five years. He was released in 2015 and tried to return to social media in 2020, but was quickly banned on Instagram due to its policy of banning sex offenders on the platform.

Next on the list is Steve Yoo (also known as Yoo Seung Jun), a popular soloist in the 1990s and early 2000s who received a score of 55.8% in the vote. The reason he was shunned by Koreans for making several public promises to complete his mandatory military service (mandatory for every Korean man between the ages of 18 and 35), he acquired United States citizenship as a way of evading it. Due to his evasion, he was deported from South Korea and permanently barred from entering the country.

Fourth on the survey results is singer G.Na , the only woman in the top five with a score of 40.8%. In 2016, she was revealed to have taken part in a prostitution scandal in which she was accused of being paid around 35 million won to have sex with and unidentified businessmen in the United States. After admitting to his accusations, G.Na was fined.

Lastly, the last person on the list is singer MC Mong with a score of 37.6%. Like Steve Yoo, he was also accused of trying to avoid military service by pulling out some of his healthy teeth after delaying his military service for seven years. Because of this, he was sentenced to six months in prison.
